A pox on the government for passing it in the first place. Never in our history has such a far reaching law been passed and accompanied with some many falsehoods and outright lies to the American people. All those who voted for the passage of this law should resign. They have violated their oath of office. We were sold a bill of goods that was false from the beginning.
I believe it to be completely and utterly unconstitutional, and so much so, that all nine Supreme Court justices should declare it to be the case. For any justice to support its constitutionality indicates to me that their understanding of the matter is deeply flawed. They can rationalize it, pull the proverbial rabbit out of their hats, but the plain simple language of the text makes it quite clear that congress and /or the president has no power to compel citizens by threat of fine or imprisonment to purchase health care insurance.
If the government can force you to buy health insurance, it can force you to buy any and everything it deems to be in the national interest. Every person, business and institution in the country will be under the thumb of the government. Our forefathers knew the tyranny of government left unchecked. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights is the cage the government was put into. This law opens the door, letting the lion out of its cage to devour all before it.
Why is it that Nancy Pelosi said, “But we have to pass the [health care ] bill so that you can find out what is in it.”
Congressman John Conyers (D-MI) speaking at a National Press Club luncheon said, “What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”
It could be said that both of these individuals failed in their responsibility to read and understand the bill as written. I suspect that they both understood the implications and are seeing the health care act as an opportunity to force their socialist agenda on all Americans. It is a socialist’s dream come true!
What the congress needs to do is find other ways to get the result they want that are constitutional and will not kill jobs and bankrupt the country.
If left intact, the so called, “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”, will turn out to be the “Patient Denial of Care and Unaffordable Act”.
this is a really interesting article. thanks.
But Suze, the universal daeluft policies were a good way for credit card companies to protect their assets. They allowed the credit card companies to share information and know who was being a bad debtor so they could get as much money as possible from someone who was robbing Peter to pay Paul’, and realistically, those people have a 95% chance of going bankrupt anyway, so the credit card companies were just getting their money, and it’s not just their money. It’s their share holders’ money.
