From what I can glean from the news is that Obama will attempt to pressure Israel to give up basically its right to exist in return for peace with the Arabs. While Obama will not state so in so many words, the end result will be the same.
The problem with this concept it that the Arabs define “peace” as no Israel. In contrast Israel defines “peace” as coexistence with the Arabs absent of conflict. You need to always read behind and between the words. Words can have different meanings to different people. Neville Chamberlain’s “peace in our time” certainly had a different meaning to Adolph Hitler. Obviously, they were not on the same page! As we have seen, Obama has a PHD in word manipulation. You will need to read between the lines.
If Israel and the free world accepts such an obvious ruse, it is indeed exercising no common sense whatsoever. At the current pace of change in the Middle East, Israel will find itself surrounded by even more hostile neighbors than ever before. It will not be long before Israel will be fighting for its very survival.
Hamas, Fatah and the Arab world have publicly stated their goals when it comes to Israel and it is not pretty. Historically their goal is no Israel, period. Any pretense otherwise is nothing but to confuse and render any resistance to their goal as ineffective.
Israel has been making concessions to the Arabs for decades. Leaving Gaza was a disaster in the making. Israel can not afford any more concessions. They can not trust anyone else to defend them. They must defend themselves.
For the Arabs it is quite simple. Recognize Israel’s right to exist and cease all hostilities. Then and only then will true “PEACE” come to the Palestinians, Arabs and Israel.
While I am sure that Israel has no desire to commit national suicide, if they are not careful the rest of the world will assist them in doing so.
